Kew Bridge Steam Museum Infernal Combustion Weekend: Rotative Engines

The rotative engines in steam at the Kew Bridge Steam Museum Infernal Combustion Weekend; 1863 Easton & Amos Rotative Beam Engine this engine came to Kew Bridge from the Cliftonville Pumping Station in Northampton in pieces as was first run there in 1978 1867 James Kay Twin Beam Engine this engine was donated to the museum by the Thames Water Authority's Chiltern Division, where it had been kept on standby since the 1930s. It was first stemed in 1979. 1910 James Simpson Cross-Compound Reciprocating Engine this engine comes from the Waddon Pumping Station at Croydon in Surrey and was the last station to still use steam power with the engine being shut down in 1983. It was donatedto the museum by Thames Water and was brought there the next year and returned to steam in 1990. It is having trouble starting as the drivers have to do so slowly due to the lack of resistance from having no pumps attached. All the engines have been filmed from different angles.

The Allen Diesel Pumping Engine at Kew Bridge Steam Museum

A short film showing the Allen Diesel pumping engine at Kew Bridge Steam Museum. This engine is one of four originally installed at the Kew Bridge pumping station in West London to supplement the steam pumping engines. It is still in it's original 'temporary' engine house and is started using compressed air which is generated by the original two-stage compressor.

MUSEUM OF TECHNOLOGY LEICESTER

Open day at the Leicester Museum Of Technology at the Abbey Pumping Station well the museum is open all year but they have special open days normally sundays where the railway gives passenger rides there is vintage vehicles and the beam engines which used to pump the water can be seen running inside the building plenty to see there was the steam roller working which a few years ago came up to Leicester North Station on the GCR to roll over the new road surface in the station car park there also have the Leicester Corporation Tramways overhead wire repair \ inspection truck with a top speed of 15mph not fast but in the days when it was built and used 20's \ 30's 15mph was fast you can also see the trains on the railway a bit more about that and a ride on it in the next video

Ryhope Engine Museum

The water pumping station at Ryhope (in Tyne and Wear) as built in the mid-19th century and served until 1967. It is now maintained by enthusiasts who run it on occasional "steam days". This footage was taken on 26 may 2008. For more details see www.ryhopeengines.org.uk
