The James Simpson or Waddon beef pumping engine

Kew Bridge steam museums Waddon engine came from waddon pumping station and was the last reciprocating steam engine in comercial operation, decomissioned in 1983! It is now in preservation and runs very niceley although developed a squeak today! Date of manufacture 1910 Cylinder Diameters 21 & 42 inches (533 & 1067 mm) Stroke 36 inches (914 mm) Flywheel Diameters 16 feet (4.8 metres) Water output per minute 2080 Gallons (9464 litres) Water output per 24 hours 3 M Gallons (13.6 M litres) Power Rating 180 horse power at 30 rpm Last worked 1983 Returned to steam 1990
