June 11 Interagency Flood News #111 Jamestown ND

Jamestown, ND (KCSi-TV News) -- The US Army Corps of Engineers told members of the Interagency Committee Thursday (Jun 11th) that barring a significant rain event, plans continue for the combined releases from Jamestown and Pipestem Dam at 1800 cfs, for about two weeks. The Corps will determine at that time if it is appropriate to ramp down combined releases at a rate of 50-cfs per day until 900 cfs is reached, and then 25-cfs per day. The Corps will determine which dam will have the releases lowered, and how often. The Corps plans to award contracts and begin levee removal in Jamestown in about two weeks, with accompanying debris removal. The majority of Corps officials will return to Jamestown when levee removal begins. The present debris removal schedule will end this Sunday (Jun 14th). About 50-tons of debris was removed Wednesday and 50-tons on Thursday, about one third of the planned removal, this time. Jamestown City Engineer Reed Schwartzkopf asks residents to still observe the voluntary odd even Voluntary Sewer Usage program. He said for about a week, the usage has held fairly steady at 6 and a half to 7 million gallons per day, with no significant "spikes" in usage with the odd even system in place. A 4th lift station near 2nd Street Southwest is still pumping into the river. Schwartzkopf added that for the sanitary sewer system to show significant drops in river infiltration, the usage at the main lift station should show daily rates of between 4 million and 4 ...
