Recycled Aluminium Production

Press parts to make an aluminium car (Jaguar XK) The first step in the recycled process is to collect scrap metal; this is achieved by collecting steel and aluminium (plastic) beads from the 'scrap hole' and transferring them to recycling lorry. The lorry is then reversed onto the sorting station where a magnet is used to remove all of the steel. The lorry, now only containing aluminium scrap, can be tipped to deposit the aluminium into the melter (yellow factory). Another water dispenser is pushed down pumping water around a tube and into the factory before pumping it around the melter (a clear acrylic tube with red LED lights inside). After this stage the process is identical as for primary production, ie an ingot is formed, the aluminium is rolled and then an XK is manufactured.
